The 1st Annual Oscar Isaac Awards (2015)

Oct 18, 2017

Rob, Tim, Red, Michael and Scott pack into the Nostromo Lounge to break down the biggest surprises, disappointments, the best and the worst of a stupidly excellent year at the cinema. Is TURBO KID better than THE FORCE AWAKENS? Is EX MACHINA overrated? Is Ridley Scott's THE MARTIAN a "comedy" ?

Check out our Top 10 Films of 2015 below:

In addition to discussing our favourite films of the year, we also hold extended deliberations wherein we whittle down dozens of films to these badass and super fun categories. Here are the winners:

Biggest Surprise

'Mad Max: Fury Road'

Mad Max: Fury Road

The deck was stacked against MAD MAX: FURY ROAD from the beginning. And that beginning is actually in 1995. Swirling rumours of production shutdowns, breakdowns on set and a hellish postproduction cycle, many War Boys out there doubted George Miller would ever get this film out the door.

The rest is history I suppose.

Biggest Disappointment

'Jurassic World'

Jurassic World

How in the name of Dr. Ian Malcolm did JURASSIC WORLD become one of the most popular films ever made? A true joke to hardcore JP fans everywhere, Colin Trevorrow's rebootquel is utterly lifeless and sterile. We deserve better.

Best Old Film of the Year

'The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension'

Buckaroo Banzai

Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don't be mean; we don't have to be mean, cuz, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Worst Film of the Year

'Terminator: Genisys'

Terminator: Genisys

It may require many years of study to determine just how miserably shitty T-Gen truly was. Then again, most of us are trying to forget about this joke of a film, and I'd say we are doing a damn good job.

Thanks for a great year folks!
